I build interfaces the way a typesetter sets a page — one unit at a time, under constraint. Pixel grids. Tabular data. Instruments that tell the truth. I like software that feels machined. Quiet tools. Type that holds a line. Rooms on a screen that you can actually stand in. Currently: assembling this station, writing field notes, and making things that behave like objects.

On 11-pixel thinking

A good interface is a grid you can feel. Eleven pixels is small enough to be honest — no place to hide a sloppy letter, no room for a decorative flourish that does not earn its cell. I start there and only scale when the unit still holds.

A dashboard is a poster of numbers. An instrument is a thing you fly with. I want needles, tables, clocks — surfaces that change because the world changed, not because a chart needed a color.
